On Signal Hill in St John's Newfoundland I looked out on a windy night into the dark expanse of sea that seemed to go on forever. Little lights belonging to fishing boats flickered in the distance. The next day driving around Newfoundland I noticed many signs on the road acknowledging the people who lost their lives at sea. This song is named after the town of Old Perlican on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland.
